History of the origin of FoodBin:

The Brummer family also runs a small grocery store in their home. Our Tante Emma store has been around for over 90 years. At one time, the business was doing really well. In 2018, however, the consideration was to close the store or completely do something else. The reason was the income and the enormous amount of work: too much to die but too little to live.

My wife looked at Unverpacktläden within a radius of about 200 km. There were not many yet. And at the same time, my daughter Luisa had many positive thoughts about changing something in her life. At that time, she was traveling in South America and saw how everything was littered with plastic.

When Luisa, then 22 years old, came back from her trip, she went straight to us and her grandma and said: I’m going to continue our business, but completely different.

She told us about her plan to do completely without plastic in the store, to offer the products unpackaged and above all to offer regional and organic products.

Wow, certainly not easy in a village with 1000 inhabitants. But Luisa is convinced and we also find these thoughts ingenious. See also www.boderei.de

How are these products offered? In any case in containers without plastic. Glass jars, bags, cans, pots or food dispensers? We looked at everything, but found nothing reasonable. The common wooden glass dispensers did not appeal to us for hygiene reasons, because of the poor cleaning possibility. With the stainless steel glass dispensers, the spout mechanism and the trickling of fine products did not appeal to us. Moreover, these designs were made of rather thin material.

So I constructed my own food dispenser. Easy to disassemble and clean, made entirely of glass and solid stainless steel (unbreakable), easy to use, different volumes and at an affordable price.

Here it is, the FoodBin 🙂
